We all know the importance of staying hydrated whilst exercising, but is water really enough? There are many sports drinks on the market claiming to enhance performance and energy during a workout. And I teamed up with Gatorade and received a Gatorade Variety Packs, to give the Number One sports drink on the market a go.
What’s included in the Gatorade Variety Pack?
The Variety Pack I have been sent includes 12 bottles of Gatorade in 4 flavours. Orange, Red Orange, Lemon and Cool Blue. The pack also contains a 32oz Controuor Squeeze Sport Bottle and Towel. All for just £29.99.
I’ve never actually tried a sports drink before, and I expected I’d prefer water during my work out. But I hit the gym yesterday morning, taking the Cool Blue Gatorade with me.
Gatorade is an electrolyte-carbohydrate solution, designed to maintain endurance performance and to enhance the absorption of water during physical exercise.
Gatorade can be stored at room temperate, then in the fridge once opened. However, with it warming up this weekend, I stored my drink in the fridge in preparation for my work out. I always prefer icy cold drinks to keep me cool.
Cool Blue has a tropical tangy taste to it. And it’s definitely my favourite of the 4 flavours. It tastes exactly like a flavoured water. I’m always concerned Sports drink will have a slightly chemical taste, but this is not the case with Gatorade.
What did I think?
Gatorade kept me as refreshed and hydrated during a work out, as water does. I found I felt more energetic during my workout than usual. Yes this could possibly be a placebo effect, but Gatorade is backed by science, and proven to replace fuels the body is using during exercise.
I will definitely be taking the other bottles with me to the gym, and Gatorade is something I am likely to buy again.
The towel is great quality and a really decent size, but also light so doesn’t take up much room in a gym bag.
The Squeeze water bottle with its curved design allows for an easy grip. And the hydra view strip down the side of the bottle enables you to keep an eye on the fill level which I find quite useful.
