As my two girls get older, I’m realising they both have quite a creative flair. Jessica loves to make videos, and edit photos. And Emily is very expressive with her imagination.
Therefore when I asked the girls if they’d like to try out The Night Zookeeper, they were more than happy to give it a go.
So what is Night Zoo Keeper?
Night Zoo Keeper is an online, educational interactive tool for kids. Night Zoo Keeper encourages children to be better readers, writers, and creative thinkers. And it does this by immersing them in a world that they can build.
Night Zoo Keeper enables kids to get creative, by using their imagination to create characters, creatures and animals. And providing a narrative as they navigate their way around the game.
Once signed up, your child is provided with login details to get going. The first task is to design an avatar. Then it’s time to create an animal, again using the paint tools. Your childs writing skills are then put to use, by adding a little character description.
The Night Zookeeper interactive portal contains a varitey of games based on English and grammar, such as Word Climb, Volcano Word Hop and Sentence Dash.

Clicking on the Blog icon invites your child to create their very own blog entry, poem, report or newspaper article. Write contains a series of missions and the opportunity for your child to write a biography.

Clicking on the lessons icon will provide your child information about our living planet. Your childs progress on their Night Zoo journey is displayed under the leagues icon.
The Night Zoo Keeper teacher reads your childs work and gives encouraging feedback and useful tips.
There is also a series of Night Zookeeper books which accompany the website. We were kindly sent ‘The Giraffes of Whispering Wood’ which is our current bed time story.
The girls particularly enjoyed the games and I think over the summer holidays we’ll spend a bit more time of the creative writing. Especially on rainy days indoors.

So pleased to hear your girls have found this enjoyable. My children love Night Zookeeper too. We are planning on using it over the Summer holidays to prevent the slide that inevitably happens whilst they arecaway from school. This way they get to have fun and learn at the same time 😊
