Psycho Path 2019 @ Lintz Hall Farm

As much as I do enjoy the run up to Christmas, Halloween will always be my favourite time of year. Give me a Gothic skull over a Shiny bauble and ‘Thriller’ over ‘Jingle Bell Rock’. And dark and sinister themed nights out over fancy, sparkly Christmas dos any day. I’ve done a few scare events for both adults and families over the past couple of years. And last Thursday I went along to the Psycho Path Launch Night*

This was my second visit to the Lintz Hall Farm Fear Ground attraction after braving a visit last year and I knew we were in for a good night.

Psycho Path might be held at the same location as last year, but on a much bigger scale. There is no ‘holding area’ as such as you wait to make your way onto the horror trail. But a huge arena or ‘Anarchy Arcade’ barn. With a Fairground theme it gave me a ‘Carnival of Flesh Vibe’ for any other Purge fans reading this.

Carnival attractions such as the popular claw grabbers and side shows, props for those killer Instagram photos, numerous food and drink vendors, live on stage entertainment and music, creepy characters menacingly wandering around and fair ground rides. This years Psycho Path really is a Halloween Spectacular.

And in the corner of the barn, the fear attraction I’d been a little apprehensive about, iScream. I hate to sound like a drama queen, but I didn’t yet feel mentally prepared for the level of fear I was expecting inside what appeared to be a clown themed hell. So instead I joined the queue for the main event, Psycho Path.

Ten minutes later and a very bumpy van ride into the woods, and the only way out now, was through Pscyho Path. And then Psycho City.

I don’t want to give any spoilers, but the terror trial took us around an hour to complete. I was on edge the entire time as we walked through scenes you’d expect in a movie. The imagination and creativity which has gone into this years sets are just something else.

Unlike last year, we weren’t given a torch. And mobiles are out of bounds. But a torch would spoil the experience. Psycho Path plays on all your senses which you rely on to make it through to the end. The fear and unknown is what Pscyho Path is all about.

Once we’d completed the course and arrived back at Anarchy Arcade, I headed to the bar for a much needed and very tasty Rose Spritz and Rhubarb gin cocktail. I’d also concluded iScream just was not happening. I was sweating, my throat hurt with screaming. And I’d had enough scares for one night. Although now that’s a decision I regret because from what I’ve heard or read since, I think I really missed out.

I don’t know whether to say we had a nightmare or fantastic time at Psycho Path. This year isn’t a case of arrive for your time slot, then you’re done. With evertyhing going on inside Anarchy Arcade in addition to the main attractions, Psycho Path is so much more than a walk through the zombie infested woods this year, but a night out with a difference.

And I can’t wait to see what the team come up with next year.

Psycho Path is running until November 2nd. Check out the website to book tickets and find out more about the Family Fright Fest for all ages launching this weekend, The Big Blaze and The Official Psycho Path After Party at Eden.
